How do you organize yourself?
Do you use your cellphone?
Do you use labels?
A huge bag?
Hopefully a bookshelf for your books!
This unit is a perfect opportunity for the 2nd-grade students to work on understanding the concept of organization and one of the lines digs even deeper: the strategies we use to organize out spaces. As a librarian, one of the main struggles is for the students to understand how the library is organized and how important it is to help maintain it that way. Using the line of inquiry as a path we have begun a different set of activities that will help students identify the elements that organize the library and how they aid them locate books.
We began with the Fiction section.
Students had an empty croquis of the Library that they filled with what they wanted, the only important point was to include the labels and signs that help. Students worked dedicated, some in pairs, others individually. They completed the task as best they could but at the end, they understood the importance of labels and signs.
This is a skill that we will continue to build upon during the year and as we work all along the library program. For now, here are some pictures of the first activities!
Este blog abarcará actividades desde 1er grado de primaria hasta 5to grado. Lo invitamos a disfrutar de la información, fotos e ideas para seguir motivando la indagación y la lectura con los alumnos.
